My most recent encouragement message was centered around a talk by Elder Paul V. Johnson entitled "More Than Conquerors Through Him that Loved Us." I found the picture from the Community Chaplain website. My personal message about this talk was the following.
I love the “We Believe” app that Michael and I listen to daily. They have such wonderful insights, but they also link to some great resources to expound on the concept being taught that day. Today we were focusing on D&C 58:2-4
“For verily I say unto you, blessed is he that keepeth my commandments, whether in life or in death; and he that is faithful in tribulation, the reward of the same is greater in the kingdom of heaven.
“Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.
“For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory, the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand.”
Today there was a link to a beautiful talk “More Than Conquerors Through Him That Loved Us” and a podcast called “Gospel Chats.” This #37 chat’s subject was “Trusting God When Everything Goes Wrong.” (https://youtu.be/8qw3jybPIVE?si=cYwsm7Ctyc0pSu65). I encourage you to listen. It was very insightful.
They referred to a talk by President Nelson where he entreats us to have resilient faith. They give the definition of what it means to be resilient; “Able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult situations, and able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching or being compressed.”
When our faith is stretched and compressed does our faith spring back quickly? When we don’t understand why we are going through difficult circumstances do we hold fast to our knowledge that God loves us and he has our best interest at heart. When it seems our pleas are not answered in the way we perceive they should be, do we trust it has nothing to do with a lack of faith on our part, but that the Lord is allowing us to grow and become. May each of us put our hand in the Lord’s and have faith in His love for us, particularly through difficult times.
