I saw a couple of different snowman cocoa mix jars on YouTube and decided to take elements from each to create this cute Christmas gift for neighbor and friends.
I cut a 3.5" and 2.2" circles and 1.5" x 7.2" strips rom black cardstock. The strips were adhered together to dotliner adhesive, 1/2" from the edge creating the stove of the top had. A thin bead of liquid glue was added to the edge of one end of the stove and the smaller circle was adhered in place. It was then turned over and another thin line of liquid glue was added to the other end of the stove and the brim of the had was adhered in place. Red ribbon 3/8" wide was adhered at the base of the hat with liquid glue, overlapping where the seam of the stove could be seen.
I order 8 oz. mason jars from Amazon. You can get them with black lids but they wouldn't arrive in time so I ordered silver lids and spray panted half the lids with black spray paint.
When the paint was dry one of the jars was filled with mini marshmallows and the lid was screwed tightly in place. The bottom jar was filled with instant cocoa mix, the one I purchase required two tablespoons to a cup of water. I created a tag in the Silhouette Cameo with a sentiment wishing them a warm and sweet holiday. I added the instructions for how much cocoa was needed. The two jars were adhered together with hot glue. If I had to do this again I would use a gorilla glue, the hot glue doesn't handle any pressure and the two jars can come apart easily if not handled carefully.
I cut the eyes, mouth, and buttons from black vinyl. The carrot nose was from a snowman gift box cut file that I used for the face on the top jar, cutting it from orange vinyl. Vinyl makes it very easy to adhered the elements to the jars.
Black and red 7/8" ribbon was cut to make a scarf for the snowman and tied to the side in a square knot. The label was threaded with red and white baker's twine, which was tied to the scarf in a bow.
I decided to decorate the ribbon on the hat and pulled out a holly leaf from the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Holiday Wreath and cut it from green cardstock. Dimension to the leaves was added with a Copic Marker and a red rhinestone was added to the center and adhered in place with liquid glue.
They turned out so cute and everyone loved them.
