Teresa You Are Like a Beloved Mom to Us

We have a sweet older sister at church that we have become very close to. She is ninety years young and since both of our mothers have passed away she is like a mother to us. For Mother's Day I got some beautiful peony flowers, along with some other filler flowers and leaves and made a bouquet for her. Of course I needed to use the Lovely Layers Peony dies to create her card.

I used the Paper Boutique Shades of Pink Cardstock for the layers of the flower and bud, using four different shades. The layers were also ink blended to add some shadows and dimension. Liquid glue was used to adhered the layers together. The leaves were cut from green cardstock and ink blended with a darker green ink.

A panel of white cardstock was cut down with a scalloped rectangle die. A quarter sheet of the darkest pink cardstock was cut to fit the front of an A2 cardbase and adhered in place with dotliner adhesive. The scalloped rectangle was adhered in place with the same adhesive.

The main sentiment was cut from gold mirror cardstock. Everything was laid on the scalloped rectangle to determine placement. The bud and leaves were adhered in plac with liquid glue. Foam tape was added to the back of the peony, which was adhered in place by removing the backing paper on the foam tape. The "Mom" sentiment was cut three more times from white cardstock, cutting away the portion of the word that overlapped the flower. The layers were adhered together with liquid glue and then adhered in place on the front of the card below the flowers.

Secondary sentiment were created in Microsoft Word using text boxes with a pink fill and white font. They were adhered in place with foam tape.

A few gold confetti pieces were scattered around the flowers and the card was done.
