Music has always been a major part of my life. It can have great influence in our lives, for good or bad. Russell M. Nelson has said, "music is powerful. It has the power to make us humble, prayerful, and grateful. ...[It] can lift our spirits, give us courage, and move us to righteous action. [It] can fill our souls with heavenly thoughts and bring us a spirit of peace.”
I have two friends who recently lost their spouses. I send them weekly cards with what I hope are uplifting messages. I've decided to also send them uplifting messages to my grandson who is a serving a two-year mission for our church. This week the message is about music and its healing properties that can left our hearts, and bring us peace.
For my two guys I went looking for some stamps that had music and ran across this stamp set from Jillian Vance that includes this great sentiment. I stamped the guitars in black ink and then added the layers in various colors and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.
I had some more of that great grey and white gingham paper on my desk and decided to use it for these cards. I cut it down using a stitched rectangle die and then adhered it to a dark gray cardbase. I smaller rectangle of white cardstock was cut with the same die set and the edges were ink blended with Distress Oxide Weathered Wood and Hickory Smoke Inks.
The guitars were laid in place to determine where to stamp the sentiment. When the sentiment was dry Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the panel, which was adhered to the gingham card front. The guitars were adhered in place with strips of foam tape and the card was done.
