Each year I create several different Christmas cards and then pick one that is easy to assemble and looks beautiful. I do this because I send out around a hundred handmade Christmas cards. This is the first card I've made this year.
I began this card hot foiling the sentiment in the center of a quarter sheet of Hammermill cardstock with gold hot foil. I then cut out the poinsettia two times from gold mirror for the outline and red cardstock for the center petals. Depth was added to the petals with Copic Markers.
To assemble the cards I scanned the die cut and created a cut file in my Silhouette, which was then cut from 80# cardstock and then covered with dotliner adhesive. The outline was adhered in place first and then the inside of the petals. This make assembly the poinsettias a breeze.
I arranged the two poinsettia flowers on the card and cut the excess off. The remaining flowers were then adhered around the rest of the rectangle. When it was done the problem was that the sentiment was lost in the midst of all the poinsettias. But I had gone to a lot of work creating this card so I decided to save it by hot foiling the sentiment again on white Hammermill cardstock with red foil and then cut it down with a stitched rectangle. Since this is a long narrow sentiment I had to do one the edge die cutting to extent the rectangle to be longer. Low loft foam tape was added to the back an the sentiment was adhered in place. I really like the way it turned out.
I decided to cut down the poinsettia rectangle so that it could be matted on some red cardstock. The rectangle was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase with dotliner adhesive.
