Each month I send out cards to the young men and women who are serving mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from my home ward or congregation. I usually find a talk about a subject I want to share, this month I ran across a talk by Thomas S. Monson entitled "Become a Light for All to See." I like that subject. The world is really crazy right now, but we can be a light of hop, that things will get better, that people do care. We can radiate our faith in Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father and that no matter what happens, we are safe in their care. We can help others to see more clearly how wonderful and special they are and in doing so dispel some of the sadness and anxiety they may be feeling. There have been so many people in my life who have been a light to me when I was growing up, or when I was going through tough times. I am eternally grateful for the light they gave to me in my times of need. So look around and become the light others need.
I watercolored a panel of Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with Mejiello Mission Gold paints. I added several layers to get the intensity that I desired. Once the watercolored background was completely dry I cut down the panel using a stitched rectangle and then stamped the beautiful Pattern Play Diamond Background from Altenew with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. This open background really lets the watercolors pop on the card.
I die cut the word "Light" from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and again from sticky back foam and adhered them to the upper center of the card with liquid glue. I created the secondary sentiment in Microsoft Word and cut it into a thin strip using a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label Die. It was adhered over the die cut word using a Darice Thin Foam Strip.
I added a lot of dotliner adhesive to the back of the panel to minimize warping of the watercolor background and added to the front of a top folding cardbase.
