I recently saw a video by Jennifer McGuire where she created unique shaped card fronts using a new Spellbinder's Oval Die. I decided to give it a try.
I've ordered the die, but haven't yet received it so I pulled out a Lawn Fawn Stitched Oval Die. I stamped the flowers from Mama Elephant's Peonies in Bloom three times with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored them with different Copic Marker color combinations.
The leaves in this stamp set are tiny, so I went looking through other flower stamp sets and pulled out some leaves from Simon Says Stamp's Beautiful Flowers 2 and colored them with Copic Markers.
I scored the top of my oval and adhered it to a quarter sheet white cardstock panel. Another oval was die cut and adhered to the inside of the card by laying it on top of the oval from, pretty side down, and adding liquid adhesive and folding the card back onto the oval. This aligns both ovals perfectly.
I arranged the die cut flowers on the oval card front the way I liked them and then picked them up with Glad Press 'n Seal. This keeps the arrangement together while you adhere the layers down to the card front. You can glue and place the elements several times in the process. The final center flower was adhered with low loft foam tape.
The primary sentiment was cut from gold mirror cardstock and orange sticky back foam. They were adhered together, cutting away the foam tape where the sentiment overlapped the center flower. I decided to just stamp the secondary sentiment and heat emboss it gold, this way it didn't detract from the pretty flowers.
I decided to use a gold glitter gelly roll pen on the flower stamens.
I really like the card, but it was time consuming to create. I could have made three cards with the flowers it took to over the oval.
