We have a good friend whose daughter is turning five on Saturday. This year her favorite things are unicorns and her favorite colors are pink and blue. This card is to celebrate who she is and the beautiful, sweet, fiesty, smart little girl she is.
I went looking for a cut unicorn coloring page and found this baby unicorn from ColoringLover. I saved the image and pulled it into my Silhouette Cameo. I removed all the background elements and traced around the image so that I could cut it out to pop up on the card. I then printed it with registration marks onto Neenah Classice Crest Solor White 80# cardstock on a laser printer, which ensures the lines don't bleed when coloring with alcohol markers. It was then cut out using the Silhouette Software.
The image was colored with Copic Markers and foam squares were added to the back. The original image had some flowers and grass, so I die cut grass and a few small pink and blue flowers, with some leaves, to add to the card. There are two layers of grass, the first it popped up with a foam strip to add some dimension and let you tuck the little unicorn into the grass. I also used the Martha Stewart Three Butterflies Punch to add some pink and blue butterflies around the image.
A panel of white cardstock was cut with a scalloped rectangle die and embossed with a small flower embossing folder. It was adhered directly to the front of an A2 cardbase with liquid glue.
I decided to create the main sentiment with the Silhouette Cameo software. It was created using a pretty font and colored pink. It was then offset to add a little border around the word. A larger offset was create to add a shadow behind the word. The word shape was cut three more times to add some dimension. The word was printed with registration marks and then all the layers were cut with the Cameo. The shadow was colored with the blue Copic Markers used on the unicorn. All the layers were adhered together with liquid glue. A foam strip was added to the bottom of the word so that the top could overlap the grass and the bottom would be at the same dimension as the unicorn.
A scrap of light pink cardstock was colored with the pink Copic Markers used on the unicorn and the secondary sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink, heat embossed white, and cut out with a sentiment label die. It was adhered directly to the card front with liquid glue.
The butterflies were adhered with liquid glue at the center, allowing the wings to lift from the background. The flowers and leaves were adhered in place with a combination of foam squares and liquid glue.
The final embellishment was to add Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops to the butterflies, flower centers, and mane and horn of the unicorn.
