We have a good friend who loves to do family genealogy. His wife says that he sits at his computer daily for many hours researching his family history and lineage. Michael and he are companions for visiting a few families from our church on a regular basis and watch over them and make sure their temporal and emotional needs are being met. Michael wanted a card that would be about his love of genealogy. I went searching but didn't find anything that was perfect for an elderly gentleman doing computer genealogy, but I did find this digital young man sitting in a tufted chair with his computer. I added some bags under the eyes and crows feet to the side of the eyes to try and age this image a little.
I printed the image with registration marks from the Silhouette Software so that it could be cut out, much like a die would, but with an electronic cutter. I printed it on Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using a laser printer and colored it with Copic markers and then used the software to cut it out. At the same time I created a sentiment that be specific to Sam and printed and cut it as well. I cut the frame around the sentiment three more times so they could be stacked together for dimension.
To add some visual interest behind the focal image I decided to use the Stampin' Up Tufted Embossing Folder on a stitched rectangle of white cardstock. I decided on this folder because the chair in the image was tufted with buttons. This panel was adhered to a black A2 top folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive.
Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the image, which was adhered to the front of the tufted rectangle. The sentiment was adhered below and the card was done.
