My oldest grandchild Zachary turns 22 this month. His favorite color is black and so I wanted to do something that would really let that color have a little pizzazz. I pulled out a couple of background dies and hot foiled them onto black cardstock. I decided to use this background made with the Reverse Confetti Stitched Circle Cover Die Once the hot foiling was complete I cut it down with a an A2 rectangle die.
I decided to use the My Favorite Things Impressive hot foil sentiment. It too was foiled onto black cardstock and then fussy cut out, since I don't have the coordinating die. I wanted to personalize the sentiment so I used the Lawn Fawn Harold's ABCs to stamp "Zach" onto a scrap of black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it gold. It was cut into a strip using the Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels and adhered over the "y" in birthday with liquid glue.
For a focal image I used the Birch Press Designs Party Balloons and cut one of them from black and gold mirror cardstock. From the black balloon I used My Favorite Things Little Numbers dies to cut Zach's age and then backed it with the gold balloon, adhering the two together with dotliner adhesive. Gold metallic thread was tied to the balloon and adhered in place with Scotch Tape.
To assemble the card I pulled out a frame of gold mirror cardstock from my scraps and adhered it to a top folding A2 cardbase with liquid glue. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the balloon and sentiment. The balloon was adhered in place by removing the backing paper on the foam, and the string was pulled to the back of the panel and adhered in place with tape. The sentiment was also adhered using foam tape. The hot foil background was then adhered on top, leaving a thin gold border and the card was done.
