Gilded Flakes Happy Birthday Balloons

I used 5/8" doubled sided tape to add three diagonal strips with different colors of glided flakes. One thing to keep in mind if you do this is that the flakes are a little sticky and if you don't want transference of one color to the next, cover up the previous strip. I didn't like it While I had the gilded stripes looked with the flower and leaf images on my previous card, so I set it aside.

Before I put the flakes away from my previous card I decided to use this striped panel and pair it with balloons die cut from the three colors of gilded flakes. I took a quarter sheet of cardstock and cut it into fourths. This was the perfect size for each balloon. Gold flakes were used on the fourth piece for the sentiment. The three balloons were arranged and then adhered together with liquid glue. Gold cord was taped to the back of each balloon for the strings and then 3M 1/2" Foam Tape was added to secure the strings and add dimension to the balloons on the card.

A quarter sheet of white cardstock was cuts down with a stitched rectangle and matted with black cardstock. The balloons were adhered in place by removing the backing from the foam tape and pulling them to the back of the panel and securing them with Scotch Tape. The word happy was cut from both gold gilded flakes and Darice Sticky Back Foam and adhered together by removing the backing paper. I find it easiest to cute a word from the paper side of the sticky back foam, leaving the word in place removing the backing paper and carefully align the word with sticky side of the foam. Little strips of foam were cut away with detail scissors to make room for the strings of the balloon so that the word would lay flat on the card. The word birthday was gold embossed on a scrap of silver gilded flakes. It was cut using a Pink and Main Sentiment Strip. Small strips of sticky back foam was added to the back, leaving space in the center for the balloon string that it overlapped.

The front of a white cardbase was dry embossed using the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folder and the focal image panel was adhered in place with liquid glue. The final embellishment was to add gold and bronze sequins around the card front. Silver Stickles was added to the center of the sequins to tie in the three colors of the gilded flakes.

I really like the look of the gilded flakes. They aren't perfectly smooth like mirror cardstock, which visual interest to wherever they are used.
