Foiled Joyful Peonies for Julie

My sister has a birthday next week. Her favorite color is ice blue, so I wanted to created something that she would really like with that color. I one time I thought about foiling a layered birthday cake, but I saw this beautiful peony hot foil die and decided I would use it instead.

I foiled the peony onto some Gina K. Designs Sea Glass Cardstock with silver foil. The image was then colored with Copic Markers. I love the way it turned out. The deeper blue at the base of the petals really lets the flower pop against the blue background. The image was die cut using the coordinating die. It was also used to cut out some sticky back foam. The foam was trimmed down with scissors so it wouldn't be seen behind the focal image.

To add visual interest to the card a panel of blue cardstock was foiled with the Spellbinders Glimmer Essential Rectangles using silver foil. I didn't get the rectangle centered perfectly on the panel, so I used a My Favorite Things A2 Rectangle Die to cut it down to be just smaller than the card front. The sentiment was also foiled on a scrap of blue cardstock and cut down with a Pink & Main Sentiment Strip.

To assemble the card, the panel of blue cardstock was adhered to a top folding white cardbase with dotliner adhesive. The flower image was adhered with liquid glue. The sentiment was adhered using a combination of liquid glue and foam.

I think the card has a lovely elegant look.
