Fancy Cake Happy Birthday

I wanted to create a card using the Pretty Pink Posh Fancy Cake Die set. I had seen a card by Leica Palma where she added five layers of frosting on the front of the cake and really liked the way it looked.

I pulled out pink scraps of cardstock and cut the main cake die from the lightest. I ink blended the candles so they were a little darker at the base and fading to the light at the top. I did some on the edge die cutting to cut the cake platter from silver mirror cardstock and adhered it over that portion of the cake and platter die with liquid glue.

I used the same light pink for the first layer of frosting but ink blended it lightly with Simon Says Stamp's Cheeky ink. The second layer was cut from the light pink but ink blended with a heavy hand. The middle layer was cut from a medium pink cardstock and lightly ink blended at the bottom with Blush ink. The next layer used the same medium pink cardstock but ink blended with a light hand and Pucker ink. The final layer was a dark pink cardstock and ink blended the bottom with heavier application of Pucker ink.

The layers of frosting were slightly overlapped and glued together with liquid glue. They were then glued to the cake base with liquid glue.

A quarter sheet of white cardstock was dry embossed with the Altenew Bunch of Balloons embossing folder. It was cut down 1/8" and matted with the dark pink cardstock use on the frosting. The panel was adhered to a top folding cardbase.

The word "birthday" was cut from the dark pink cardstock and ink blended at the bottom to add some dimension. It was cut three more times from white cardstock, cutting away the portion of the sentiment that overlapped the platter.

The cake and die cut sentiment were laid on the card front to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment. Foam squares were added to the back of the cake and platter and adhered in place. The sentiment die cut word was then adhered in place with liquid glue.

Ranger Crystal Stickles were added to the bottom of each layer of frosting. Gold Stickles were added to the flames of the candles.
