I had the rectangle of polka dot paper leftover from creating my previous card and decided to use it to make another card. I went through the My Favorite Things Birthday Blowout Paper Pack and found a great red and white diagonal strip. Two Ellen Hutson Essential Rectangles were used to great a diagonal strip frame. The same dies were used to cut white cardstock to create the thin mats that were adhered on the inside and outside of the frame.
A quarter sheet of typewriter paper was cut down 1/8" smaller and covered with dotliner adhesive. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the frame. It was laid in place on the typewriter paper. The two small white mats were adhered in place and the then the polka dot paper was adhered in the center. The diagonal strip paper frame was adhered in place by removing the backing paper from the foam tape.
The cupcake liner was cut from the striped paper. The frosting was cut from white paper and shadows were added with a couple of Copic Markers. The frosting was adhered to the liner with liquid glue. The candle was cut from white cardstock and colored with Copic Markers. Ranger Crystal Stickles was added to the flame on the candle. Foam Tape was added to the back of the cupcake, which was adhered on an angle to the polka dot paper.
The sentiment was stamped with red ink onto white cardstock and fussy cut with scissors. Foam tape was added to the back and adhered under the cupcake.
The focal panel that had been adhered to the typewriter paper was then adhered to a red cardbase with dotliner adhesive. I decided to use the sprinkles die in the set to create some red sprinkles for the top of the cupcake frosting. Ranger Glossy Accents were add to the sprinkles for dimension, making them look like Red Hot candies.
