I originally thought I was make these flower red but when I pulled out my Altenew red inks these coral colors were in the tin.
I cut the layers from white cardstock and ink blended with Altenew's Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay, and Burnt Red Inks. The leaves were ink blended with Bamboo and Parrot. The flower layers were adhered together with liquid glue.
I knew I wanted to have a background behind the flower to add visual interest and pulled out the Crafter's Companion Grande Swirls Die. The easiest way to adhered a large background die to a card front is to spray the back with adhesive and lay in place. I wanted to make sure the background was well adhered, so I decided to run it through the Platinum with the Stampin' Up Subtle Embossing Folder. What I discovered was that the embossing was only on the raise areas of the background. It is a really lovely affect.
I decided to add some black splatters to the background. At first I tried using VersaFine Clair Nocturn Ink and surprisingly this ink does not work well. You get a light grey. So I pulled out Distress Black Soot Ink and added some more spatters. This time they went a little crazy and I had some pretty big blotches. I decided to go with it and hope that I could disguise some of the large splatters by strategically placing some sequins over them. It isn't perfect, but it looks okay in the end. The flowers and leaves were adhered in place with liquid glue. The sentiment was stamped on black cardstock with Versa Mark Ink and heat embossed white. It was cut into a thin label and adhered in place with a thin strip of Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape.
