My friend has raised her granddaughter since she was tiny. She is a wonderful young lady. This card was created in celebration of her 17th birthday.
I make a lot of birthday cards for young ladies and have a fair amount of digital images to choose from. I went through my stamps and decided on this image from Make It Crafty. When I am using a digital image I like to print them in the Silhouette Cameo with registration marks software so that it will cut out the image after it has been colored. I always use a laser printer, since the toner doesn't bleed when alcohol markers are used in coloring.
Merissa's favorite color is blue, so those are what was used to color the image. She had big beautiful hazel eyes and long blond hair, so this image was perfect. Once the coloring was complete she was cut out with the software. Since this is a sitting image I die cut a bench from woodgrain cardstock and adhered the image to the bench with liquid glue.
For the background of the image I pulled out cloud and grass stencils and added those elements to a panel of white cardstock with Distress Oxide Inks. The panel was cut down using the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle, which adds great visual interest to the corners. The stenciled background was adhered to a top folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive. The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed white.
Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the girl and bench, which then adhered to the front of the stenciled rectangle and the card was done.
