Blue Strip Big Birthday Wishes

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

I had contemplated using My Favorite Things Big Birthday Wishes on the previous card I made and had it sitting on my desk. I decided to put it to use and thought it would look great with a striped background. I still had some of the navy cardstock from the previous card and decided to pair it with Paper Studio Blue Paper Pack and cut strips of cardstock using Simon Says Stamp strips 2 Die.

Once I had all the strips die cut I took a quarter sheet of typing paper and covered it with dotliner adhesive. I then adhered the strips at a diagonal until the sheet was covered. I placed the Big Birthday Wishes die in the center of the rectangle and ran it through the Big Shot. It didn't cut well through all the cardstock, so I ran it through again using a metal shim. I also die cut the sentiment from a quarter sheet of blue sticky back foam and without removing it from the quarter sheet I removed the paper paper from the foam letters and adhered the stripped die cut letters in place.

I dry embossed the front of an A2 cardbase with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder. I cut down the foam with the letters so that it was even on all sides, added Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the back of each letter, and then turned it over and adhered it to the front of the card. I gave the glue a few minutes to dry and carefully removed the background away from the letters. I loved the way it turned out.
