I have a young friend from church who was celebrating her 13th birthday. Her favorite colors right now are blue, green, and orange. I decided to use the Birch Press Designs Party Balloons die to cut a balloon from each of those colors and dimension was added by ink blending the edges of the balloons with Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks. I then pulled out some stencils to add some sparkle with Gina K. Designs Glitz Glitter Gel. Strings for the balloons were cut from gold glitter cardstock using the Waffle Flower Balloon Ties Dies.
I decided to make her card into a shaker. A frame was cut from white cardstock using the Mama Elephant Framed Tags/Artist Mat Die. I love the wide frame this die creates. It is easy to add foam tape to the edges to create a shaker. Acetate was added to the back of the frame with dotliner adhesive and then 3M Foam Tape was added as well.
Sequins were added to the well created by the foam tape in all the colors she loves. I have learned that for me creating a shaker is easiest when I have a panel to adhered to the back of the foam tape frame. I cut a quarter sheet of cardstock down to fit behind the frame and embossed it with the Spellbinders Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder and then adhered it to the back of the shaker frame with liquid glue. The panel was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase.
The balloons and strings were adhered to the front of the shaker with a combination of liquid glue and foam tape.
The word birthday was cut from each color of cardstock and then again from gold glitter cardstock. They were adhered together just a little offset so that each color could be seen. The secondary sentiment was stamped onto the bottom of the frame with gold ink and the word "birthday" was then adhered in place with liquid glue.
