I had the white glitter cardstock words/letters leftover from my previous card and wanted to use them on another card. My neighbor is turning 92 in a few days. His favorite color is Yellow, so I decided to use my Copic Markers to color the letters in an ombre yellow color from dark to light. I don't think I would do this often. I was afraid the rough texture of the glitter cardstock would ruin my nibs.
This time I decided to adhere the letters to a white cardstock panel that had been cut down with a stitched rectangle and dry embossed with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder, which is one of my favorites. I placed the negative glitter panel over the embossed one and held it in place with some tape and then adhered the letters in place with liquid glue. When the glue was dry I carefully removed the negative space panel, leaving the letters in the perfect place.
I wanted to add some black striped cardstock for visual interest behind the focal image, but all my 6x6 cardstock has already been packed. So I pulled out the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes Background and stamped it on white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink. When it was dry it was cut down using the largest Lawn Fawn Stackable Stitched Rectangle, which cover the front of an A2 card. I also cut a balloon and string from black glitter cardstock and adhered it over the "I" in the word big.
I love the way this turned out. There is just something about the combination of yellow and black.
For the envelope I cut a larger balloon and cut out the number 92 and backed it with a yellow balloon and adhered it to the lower left.
