My second son has a birthday the first part of October. So I needed to get it made before all my craft supplies are packed up for our move.
Patrick loves the color black so I cut the My Favorite Things Big Birthday Wishes from black and white glitter cardstock, and again from a panel of white cardstock that had been cut down using a stitched rectangle to be just larger than the sentiment. I also cut a thin frame from the black glitter cardstock using an Ellen Hutson Essential Rectangle Die.
The die was cut from this panel so the black glitter letters could be inlaid into the openings. The die was also cut from black sticky back foam and the black glitter and foam were adhered together my removing the backing paper. The letters were adhered in place with liquid glue. I used a couple of stamping blocks to add pressure while they the glue dried. The black glitter border was also adhered with liquid glue. I added the center of the litter using the white glitter cardstock. If I were to make this card again I would not use the white glitter, it wasn't needed, and think is a little bit distracting.
I added some visual interest to the card by cutting the small cake from CC Designs Birthday Palooza and one of the balloons from Simon Says Stamp Balloon Bouquet from the white glitter cardstock and adhered them with liquid glue over the "I" in the word Big. I think it was the perfect touch to the card.
