My daughter-in-law has a birthday a few days before mine. Her favorite colors are black and burgundy. I decided to use several shade of dark red/burgundy cardstock to cut out the layers to the Altenew Jumble Garden Picks.
I went through my stash and found four different burgundy red cardstock sheets and cut the layers for these flowers. I don't use this die very much because each layer of all three flowers have to be cut at the same time, but the three different sized flowers made a beautiful card.
I had seen recently where, I think it was Mindy Eggen, use a dark purple to add shading to a deep red cardstock and it worked beautifully. Each of the layers of the flower were adhered together with liquid glue.
I decided to have black leaves with gold mirror veins and love the way they turned out. I thought about using a black cardbase, but I wanted the flowers and black leaves to standout on the card and decided to use a dark gray instead. A rectangle was cut using a scalloped rectangle die and matted onto gold mirror cardstock. Before adhering the gold mat the "beautiful" sentiment was cut from the center. The slate panel was adhered to the gold mirror cardstock using dotliner adhesive. The die cut word was adhered with liquid glue. The secondary sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of black cardstock, heat embossed gold, and die cut using a sentiment die. It was adhered below the "beautiful" die cut with foam tape.
The flowers were arranged the way I liked them and laid on the slate rectangle. The leaves were adhered with liquid glue where I liked them and then the two back flowers were adhered in place with liquid glue and the top flower with foam tape.
I love the elegant look to this card.
