Alcohol Ink Vellum Overlay Statement Flowers Hello

Updated: Apr 13, 2021

I wanted to create a card using Alcohol Lift-Ink on an alcohol ink background. I tried it earlier in the month and wasn't successful. It felt like the ink pad was pretty dry so I ordered a re-inker, which came a couple of days ago. I recently watched a video from Nicole Spohr where she used Alcohol Lift on a couple of cards. They were lovely, so I decided to try again. Once again I didn't like the outcome. I use Kirkland Glossy Photo Paper for my Alcohol Ink techniques. I'll have to try it on Yupo Paper and see if I get better results. So I decided to add an image white heat embossed onto vellum. It turned out pretty.

I first began by creating my background using Shell Pink Wild Plum and Crimson Time Holtz Alcohol Inks on the backside of half sheet of photo paper. It was a beautiful combination. I determined what portion of the background I wanted to use on my card and cut it down with a stitched rectangle die.

I stamped and embossed Altenew's Statement Flowers onto vellum and cut it out with the coordinating die. I used my larger Xyron Sticker Maker to do just that, turn the vellum cutout into a sticker. There are only a few ways you can adhered vellum and this is one that I think is the best option. I removed the backing and placed it over the alcohol inked background.

I die cut the word "hello" from gold mirror cardstock and added a small "birthday" banner for the sentiment "birthday hello" and adhered it over the bottom of the double "l" in the die cut word with liquid glue. Both were adhered in place on the alcohol ink background with liquid glue.

I decided to mat my Alcohol Ink background with gold mirror. To do this I always cut out the center of the rectangle so as not to waste this beautiful paper. The two were adhered together with dotliner adhesive and then both were adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase.
