Alcohol Ink Cosmos Happy Birthday

I pulled out my alcohol inks the other day and made a lot of background. I always love the vibrancy of these inks. I am frugal where I can be and don't use the expensive Yupo Paper, instead I use the backside of Kirkland's Glossy Photo Paper, it works wonderfully. I am not going to list the exact colors of alcohol inks I used, because I don't want to discourage you from using what you have. It doesn't matter what purple or blue or green you use. The only drawback about creating these backgrounds is that they are so beautiful you don't want to cover them up. I've tried to use them in unique ways.

For this card I used Pink, Red, and Purple Alcohol Inks with the Gilded Alloy Mixative. I decided to turn this background into flowers. I tried to make sure there were lighter and darker shades to the different layers of the Cosmos. The center of the flowers were cut from a gilded section of the background. Each layer of the flower and the finished flower center were adhered with a small square of Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape to add some dimension. They turned out so pretty.

I needed some green for the leaves and stems and so I created another background using a few green alcohol inks. Once it was dry the leaves and stems were cut from it and adhered to the flowers with liquid glue.

I wanted to have some visual interest on the card and pulled out the Crafter's Companion Distress Border and foiled it in gold onto the left edge of a rectangle of Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock. I also foiled a sentiment onto a scrap of the pinky purple alcohol ink background that had a coordinating die.

The flowers, stems, and leaves were adhered to the foiled panel with liquid glue and the sentiment was adhered over the leaves at the bottom of the card.

I didn't like the way the panel looked when adding it to a top folding white A2 cardbase, so I matted the panel with gold mirror cardstock before adhering it to the front of the card. I liked that look much better.
