Alcohol Ink Birch Press Design Balloons

In my previous card I talked about how I created some balloon stencils using Kirkland Glossy Photo Paper. However, when you do this you have the leftover positive die cuts. This photo paper works really well with alcohol inks when you use the backside. When I was created my stencils I made sure that the balloons were die cut with the backside of the paper up. This way I could use these to create another card.

I pulled out my Ranger Alcohol Inks in Stream, Bottle, Aquamarine, and Gold Mixative. I have 91% Isopropyl Alcohol in my craft room. I use it all the time for cleaning adhesive from surfaces and my scissors, but it also works well as a blending medium for alcohol inks. I have put a little into a small bottle with a thin nozzle. I liberally put the alcohol on the die cut balloons and then added the alcohol inks. I use to use a straw to move the inks around, but I didn't like inhaling the fumes from the inks so awhile ago I purchased the Ranger Alcohol Ink Blower. This works really well to move the ink around and get that beautiful marbled look. When I was happy with the blend I put the balloons aside to dry.

I cut a quarter sheet of white cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangle Die. This cuts a rectangle that is the same size as an A2 cardbase. I dry embossed the panel with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder. I love the texture embossing folders give behind a focal image. I adhered the panel to a cardbase with dotliner adhesive.

I went through all my birthday sentiment dies and found that this "happy birthday" from Penny Black was the perfect size for the largest balloon. Since I had used gold mixative in the alcohol ink blend I cut the sentiment from gold mirror cardstock and adhered it to the the balloon with liquid glue.

Gold metallic thread was added to the balloons for strings and adhered to the back with Scotch Tape. I arranged the balloons the way I liked them and adhered the two smaller balloons directly to the embossed panel with liquid glue. I added 2mm craft foam to the back of the largest balloon and adhered it in place with liquid glue.
