In my previous card I had cut a shadow of the word hello from the middle of a quarter sheet of blue cardstock. As I was cleaning up my desk I decided that I should really put it to used, rather than throwing it away. I cut down the panel with a stitched rectangle.
I went searching through my patterned cardstock to find something that would go with the blue. I pulled out the Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Chill Paper Pack and found several that would work, some of the plaids had blue lines in the plaid, but I eventually settled on using a yellow plaid instead. I love the look of navy and yellow together.
The word hello was cut from the yellow plaid, as well as some sticky back foam. The two were adhered together by removing the backing paper. I cut a piece of white cardstock to be just smaller than the stitched rectangle, but I didn't like how the yellow plaid looked on the white. It was too stark. So, I pulled out Distress Oxide Antique Linen Ink and blended the white panel a soft yellow. This looked much better. I decided to add even more dimension to the card and added Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape to the back of the navy blue stitched rectangle, removed the backing paper and adhered the antique linen panel behind. The yellow plaid with sticky back foam was adhered in the cutout with liquid glue. The focal image panel was adhered to a golden yellow cardbase with liquid glue.
A few yellow enamel dots were scattered around the word. I liked the way it looked, but I decided to add a secondary sentiment, stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed gold. It was cut into a flagged strip with a Pink and Main Sentiment Strip and adhered over the die cut word with liquid glue.
